Leading figures of the Pakistani diaspora in Canada gathered at Habib University’s “Shaping Futures in a Fractured World” fundraising gala in Mississauga on October 17, 2025, to advocate for equitable access to education and knowledge as the means to heal deepening rifts around the globe. The evening brought together prominent entrepreneurs, philanthropists, higher education advocates, and other distinguished guests to reflect on Habib University’s decade-long journey and pledge renewed support for its mission of cultivating critical, conscious, and community-minded graduates. The gala featured a keynote speech by award-winning Canadian journalist, writer and podcaster Aaron Maté, as well as a welcome note by Muslim Hassan, Chair of Habib University Foundation Canada.
Global Support Fuels Access to Higher Education for Pakistan’s Youth
Habib University’s “Beauty of Generosity” fundraising gala, held March 18, 2023, at the Capitol Banquet Centre in Mississauga, Canada, united global supporters to promote Zakat and expand access to higher education for underprivileged students in Pakistan. The evening opened with a Quran recitation, setting a tone of generosity and reflection. Muslim Hassan underscored the urgent need for educational opportunities, while keynote speaker Dr. Azra Raza highlighted how giving and education transform communities. President Wasif Rizvi shared HU’s achievements: 360 full scholarships through HU-TOPS since 2014 and 85% of students receiving financial aid. Closing the night, Marzia Hassan thanked donors for their generosity, which raised vital funds to empower Pakistan’s youth, transform lives, and create a brighter future.

The gala highlighted HU-TOPS, a competitive scholarship covering full tuition for deserving students, and showcased Meri Uraan, a video on scholars’ journeys. By connecting donors worldwide, Habib University empowers Pakistan’s youth to tackle global challenges and nurtures a new generation of ethical, visionary leaders.
